Frequently Asked Questions
What's included in an electric poultry fence kit?
Every electric poultry fence kit includes the same core components: a roll of pre-wired netting with built-in posts, an energizer, a ground rod, a fence tester, connector clips, and a repair kit. The only thing that varies between kits is the type of energizer included, so check the product details to confirm which one comes with your kit.
How much area does a poultry kit cover?
Coverage depends on the length of netting included and your enclosure’s layout. Our shortest roll, at 82 feet, covers roughly 420 square feet in a square configuration, while our longest roll, at 164 feet, covers up to 1,681 square feet. A simple square or rectangular layout maximizes usable space compared to an irregularly shaped enclosure, so plan your area in advance to choose the right kit.
Will this kit keep out foxes, hawks, and raccoons?
Electric poultry fencing generally creates an effective deterrent against common ground predators like foxes and raccoons by delivering safe, sharp shocks when they touch the fence. However, it may not be the ideal solution for hawks. Since they fly down from above and do not touch the fence or ground wire, the shocks cannot reach them.
How long does it take to set up a poultry kit?
While most poultry kits are designed for simple installation, setup time may vary based on the size of the terrain and your enclosure. Starkline's kits are easy to install, and you can complete the setup quickly. With all core components supplied together, follow the instructions and prepare the fence layout beforehand to complete the process faster.
Can I expand my poultry kit as my flock grows?
Yes, you can expand your poultry kit as your flock grows. You can add compatible netting sections, add more coop space, attach additional run panels, and add more feeder and water units to match the new flock count. By adding compatible fencing components, you can increase the enclosure without entirely replacing the existing setup.
Which kit size is right for my flock?
The right kit size depends on your current flock size, the amount of free-range space you want to provide for your birds, and your property’s layout. Larger enclosures give birds more space to move naturally while making it easier for you to expand your operations without upgrades. So, choose a kit that leaves room for future flock growth.
